Quick & easy champagne cocktails for New Year’s Eve

We are all ready to get rid of the sour taste 2020 has left us, so these are some quick and easy cocktails to enjoy to ring in 2021.

Since most celebrations will be at home this year, we’ve put together five champagne cocktails that require five or fewer ingredients and that can be mixed up in one-minute or less!

First up, is the Scottish Sunset.

This champagne cocktail is made with Scotch whiskey, bitters, sugar, and your favorite champagne. Garnish with orange peel, and enjoy! You’ll need: .75 oz. Scotch whiskey 1 tsp. sugar 3 dashes bitters 4 oz. chilled champagne 1 orange peel. Add the sugar to the glass, then dash in the bitters. Stir with Scotch until sugar is mostly dissolved. Then, pour in the champagne. Twist an orange peel above the glass, then rim the top of the glass with the peel. Lastly, enjoy!

Next up, is the French 75.

This quick and easy cocktail combines the aromatics of gin with the rich bubbliness of champagne and the zest of lemon juice- perfect for a new twist on New Year’s Eve. Add a teaspoon of sugar to a champagne flute, then stir with half an ounce of lemon juice to dissolve. Add in an ounce of gin and continue stirring. Once the sugar is dissolved, top off the glass with champagne.

Number three: The Margarita Mimosa.

If you’re looking to add a little tequila to your New Year’s Eve celebration, give this Margarita Mimosa a try. This recipe makes two cocktails. Add 1 oz. lime juice and 1 oz. triple sec to an ice-filled cocktail shaker. Pour in 2 oz. tequila, and then cover and shake. Strain into champagne glasses. Fill both glasses about a third of the way with the margarita mix. Then, fill the glasses with champagne and enjoy.

Number four: The Tropical Mimosa.

It’s part pina colada and part mimosa. This recipe is for two cocktails.

You’ll need an ounce of orange juice, and an ounce of pina colada mixer. Those will go into an ice-filled cocktail shaker.

Followed by a shot, or two if you like strong drinks, of coconut rum. Kingston is my go-to brand.

Give that a shake, and then strain into a champagne flute.

Top the glasses with champagne… and then take a sip to transport yourself to the islands on New Year’s Eve.

Lastly, the Sweet Apple Pie Mimosa.

The key components in this are Angry Orchard Hard Apple Cider and Cinna-Sugar Twist vodka.

First up, pop open an Angry Orchard and then fill two champagne flutes about a quarter of the way.

Next, add in some of that cinnamon vodka -about three quarters to an ounce in each glass.

Give that a stir, and then top with some prosecco.

This one is super sweet, but packs a punch. Perfect for a pre-midnight power-up.

Whatever you mix up for New Year’s Eve, we hope you celebrate safely and responsibly.

And cheers… to a brighter 2021 and a Forking Good New Year!
